I hate to tell you, but they weren't good to begin with. There's no way "great" hulls would dent from just resting on sawhorses.

They're delaminated, almost for sure.

I agree, the hulls should not have dented and it has nothing to do with heat. It’s very likely that the hulls on your 45 year old boat have delaminated. Do a search on this site for “soft spots” and you will find countless threads about boats with delaminated hulls, how to inspect the extent of the damage, and how to repair (if it’s even worth repairing).

That being said, anytime I put a hull up on saw horses, I put a healthy layer of padding between the hull and the horse. Composites don’t like point loads and the curved side of a hull resting on the edge of a straight 2x4 will create a significant point load which can damage the hull as you found out.

What part of the hulls are you talking about? The tops,(decks), sides, (outside or inside), or the bottoms along the keel?
