Anyone have more information on Hobie's Gelcoat Repair Putty part number 8006610? I know its not in catalog any more, but I understand it is still available.

I have a small puncture hole on inside of my hull above the waterline from my catbox corner. Hole goes through, but again...is not that large or structural. Size of the hole is about the size of a pencil eraser.

Wondering if this would be the best option. Formula 27 might be another (with gelcoat over top). Would also consider MarineTex or using cloth with some west system.

Thoughts?

Go to Home Depot and pick up a "Fiberglass Tub and Tile repair kit." They're under $20. You get about 1-ounce of white gel coat. Very handy for spot repairs.

Interesting. Was't aware of that. However, I still need to fill the hole and am hoping that I can just use a putty based product. However, I understand gelcoat doesn't do well over epoxy based fillers (like MarineTex).

Well...OK then! Thanks for jumping in, Matt.

Just to know...what is the former Hobie Gelcoat Repair putty. Is that an epoxy base? Polyester base? Or something different altogether?

Always appreciate the help!

Polyester.

We still carry the white: 8006610 GELCOAT PUTTY-WHITE 1.25 OZ. ($29.99 and no catalyst)

You need to have a local supply for catalyst (MEK).
