Last year I applied the Rail Protection Tape and am contemplating buying the Nose-Rail kit. My question is, will I have to remove the Protection Tape to put on the Nose-Rail kit? If so, how do I do remove it and not harm the surface?

I really enjoy my Eclipse, but I get real nervous when my friends take it out as it is so fragile. I am hoping the Nose-Rail kit will help make it a bit more durable.

Just bought my 2nd Eclipse this year and made it a Dura for this reason. ;-)

Thanks.

Yes, remove the older version. Apply some heat from a hair drier or carefully with a hot air gun. That will assist in removing the old material.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is like my 4th Hobie purchase, so I really like your stuff.

Also, thanks for the YouTube video showing how to install the nose-rail kit. I really appreciate you guys investing time for putting these videos out.

Have a great weekend!!

Can I partially remove the protective bow cover tape (using heat), repair under it and reapply it?

Or remove and replace?

I just installed the protective tape, while doing so, I noticed a small crack that needs repair. The bow protective tape, underneath, is covering a portion of the crack. I'd like to reapply after I repair, but I'm unsure if the adhesive will still work? Can you advise? I'd just peel it back, repair, then reapply.

Not sure at all about the re-use of the adhesive, but you could use a contact cement if you had to.
