The bow handle cord has broken on my 2017 tandem island.

Is there a way to open the rubber handle, to enable me to replace the frayed and broken cord?

Thanks for any advice.

I like your fix, but if worse comes to worse, buy a new handle.

Cut a short length of small diameter PVC pipe. Bore a hole in the middle, on one side. Insert cord, push out one end, knot and pull cord back. Attach that to the standard boat pad eye. Now you have a lifetime handle, neat, trim and no larger than the original.

I added a second one to mine and don't think it was very expensive. It's nice being able to use both hands to lift the bow.
