The marina I sail at won't let me launch unless I'm under power "at all times while in the marina". I've never heard of a more rediculous rule. I don't even think I'm allowed to have the sails up while in the marina.

That means I need to mount something - either gas or electric. I'm guesing that electric is going to be pretty low power but gas is going to be non functional following a capsize.

Any thoughts?

I still can't beleive that rule. What a crock of $#*%

The electric will work well for you, as they can survive a dousing, expecially if you keep a heavy plastic bag with a taped or tied neck on the control head. You may want to mount a 12V battery under the tramp, for at the front directly under the mast. It works for my boat and I can launch anytime, regardless of wind.

go To ebay get a R/C boat motor a 600 size should do the trick make sure to get a prop and drive cable with a collet all in all about $20.00 make a motor "wand" you can tuck into the tramp lacing when not in use.

Get a LiPo Battery and you have a power system that will weigh under two pounds with battery and last for an hour of in the marina power.

You will not go fast but you will have more then enough to power you in most wind!
