G'Day, I just got my new Revo wet for the first time and it's a little ripper!
It sails quite well for a kayak and I am thinking of experimenting with a larger Skeg than the Blades alone.
I thought if I went to Clark Rubber and bought some high Density rubber material I could whittle it down to make a shaped plug that would fit tightly in the Pedal slot.
This would hold itself in place by virtue of being a tight fit without having to use the Cams to secure it and the Skeg would be fixed in the center of the Rubber Plug.
I also had the notion that if I made the Skeg in the shape of a Crescent with the tip facing forward then if I struck the bottom it would simply push the Skeg up out of the hole without stressing either the Yak or the Skeg.
I have read posts on the Hobie Kayak Forum from guys who have added a Skeg and they all report significantly improved upwind performance.
I would be pleased to hear any views on this idea.
Thank you all for the valuable info I have gleaned from this site.
