I found a free 16 on a trailer not tooo far away from me. I headed over today to see what it was.
Turns out it is a '79 by the last 2 digits of the hin. It came with a pair of epo #1's that need to be refinished, It has adjustable rudder castings on the boat, A comptip mast, the more modern jib trim system, all the rigging, a set of Harken 6:1 blocks. No Main but a real nice jib.
Also dual trap rigging with J&H handles, and a pair of trap harnesses. One of the harnesses is a Murray's the other is an Straight Aero brand.
I am not sure if this boat may have been raced at some point as it seems to have all the upgrades that probably were available at the time.
The trailer is useable, Must be I just came home 2 hours with it! The lights don't work but no biggie there. I used a set of magnetic lights.
PLUS, a spare set of lower rudder castings, a full set of 16 battens, main and jib, I think a full set of 14 main battens, 2 new cams, 3 regular white rudders, a black rudder that seems plastic. Long 16 tiller extension, 2 toolboxes of miscellaneous spare parts. A set of 14 trap wires. a couple canoe paddles, and about a dozen life-preservers.
It needs the bottom of the hulls to be glassed but I didn't feel any soft-spots anywhere. The tramp is useable. The mast looks like the comptip might not be straight but I will have to look again when it's not pouring out. ALL the sheets will need to be replaced and it needs more than just a pressure wash, I already did that. It has pond ring on the hulls.
The Harkens are going on my yellow boat as well as the adjustable rudder castings, the epo's and probably the updated jib trim system.
Everything needs a good cleaning but seems serviceable.
