I just pre-ordered a PA 14 360 and I am working through a couple of issues, one of which is transporting and storage. I have seen a number of posts regarding PVC pipe as "bunks" and I know that Hobie recommends the cradles made for the PA 14. The latter is where I am leaning since I will be using my Saris 902 roof racks to carry the PA, both on my Escape and also my Lees-ure Lite Excel camper. I plan on storing the PA on the camper and using it as a transport trailer even if I am not camping. This will let me keep it in the garage when not in use. I will throw it on the car whenever I am camped and need to get to a different spot to launch. I know that the Hobie cradles are supposed to be about 67" apart, but my roof racks will only attach to the car or camper spaced about 50" apart.

Can anybody tell me if that spacing will work or do I need to find another solution?

The forward has to be specific... a net fit. The aft can vary, but you would end up with more hanging off the back...17" more is a lot! I suggest mounting some fore / aft rails... 2x4 or something and mounting the cradles to them at the suggested 67".

Thanks Matt, that's what I needed to know. I will see what I can do to get the cradles spaced correctly. If not, then I will need come up with another solution.

I just got off the phone with a rep from Oak Orchard in upstate NY Dealer. Was asking a questions about spacing on the Hobie Trailex trailer vs Trailex SUT 220 SA.For the new pa 14- 360 and he said has to check. He thinks new 360 has a different bottom ? Has anyone heard any thing about the new 360 bottom ?

I struggled with this for a while with my PA12. At 67" the cradles just didn't fit well at all. I even called Hobie but didn't get much help, the guy only kept saying each boat will be a little different.

What I settled on that looked like it supports the best was the rear is just forward of the drop down skeg. And the front of the forward cradle is around the rear end of the drive hole. I think the distance came out to around 53". Way less than what Hobie is saying but it looks good. The 14' might require a little more spacing than that though...

Distance between or center to center of each cradle? We say center to center.

Yes. Center to center.
