The put-in I most frequently use has asphalt and crushed stone parking areas. My AI is transported upside down and stern forward. I flip it over, pull the bow off, set the bow on the ground, install the cart with a bungee, then lift the stern off. Pivoting the AI in this attitude leaves scratches on the keel at the bow.
The short term fix has been to cut a narrow 6" piece of plastic from a motor oil container and duct tape it over the abraded area. The duct tape gets chewed up but I'm not about to run out of it any time soon. Is there a suitable long-term fix for this problem?
I've been sailing the AI since Memorial Day. It's an incredible boat and I want to keep it in good condition for a long time.
