Last year I replaced the "cams"? (black plastic part that rotates) but I am again increasingly having problems finding a setup (via the adjusting bolt on the tiller and adjusting the spring in the rudder casting) where the tiller will "snap" in to lock down the rudder on launching AND when the tiller is pulled up to lift the rudders on beaching, the cam rotates to the proper "open" position. I'll get one or the other.

1) Any suggestions. Is it possible the new cams are too soft a plastic for the 21 and are deflecting prematurely ? I don't remember my original ones being that soft and they lasted for probably 8 years.

2) Resetting a cam from its closed to open position is a real bear (does anyone know an easy way ?).

Take a look at the following topic from the FAQ section, hopefully that will solve your problems.
