sorry I read that wrong you're right. I'm confused though about Hobie asking $3,000 for the main alone. Thats ridiculous. The white or smoked STX is 1,834 (I don't know if that includes batons)...where is the extra 1,000 going to in this new sail?

This price comes from the very high exchange rate the euro-dollar currently has. Here in Europe, an STX in smoke costs about the same, 2137 euros (with battens). For us it might actually pay off to order the sail in US...

if any west coast businesses want advertizing they can buy a set of these and put their logo on them id sail them at the regattas.
Jeremy you interested?
surf city racing on a set of those blue ones would be nice and im so slow everyone would see them clearly

I think those were just built for the boat show as display sails and not intended to actually be sailed. They might even make you slower :D :D :D

Me too! But I don't think the fish are a good demographic and that's who would see my sail the most often.

Are these fancy new sail going to be available for the FXone as well?

Yea Karl, If I were selling fish food I'd put a Surf City logo on my sails too...

Hey Jacques, Set this thread straight. What's up with those sails?

These are the 2007 Tiger sails and are actively sailed over here in Europe. Available in red and blue.

So.

Bottom line, let's get to the chase.

Can my local US Dealer get them, and for how much?

Our understanding is that the sails in the picture earlier in this thread are custom sails that a Euro dealer had made for a boat show. They very well could be used currently by many sailors as they are custom F18 sails, not Hobie one-design. They are not standard Hobie sails, we are still offering the smoke and white colors with our Tigers as standard equipment.

Thanks,

Mark

The square head on the STX is a bit larger (the straight line going aft from the masthead).

The reinforcements at the head are different between the two - most noticeable on the Smoke sails

This is an ST:

These are STX sails:

See the difference? Sail number approx 1800 and above are STX's Anything below 1700 is an ST. 1700-1800, you gotta check.

Mark,
I just bought a Tiger and LOVE it! I've been checking on sail prices from various sailmakers and FYI so you have an idea of how much they cost:
Mainsails are around $1850USD + shipping and taxes
Jibs vary but I've gotten prices from $575USD to $700USD +S&T
Spinnakers are running around $1150USD +S&T
Hope this helps in your decision,
Dan in Hawaii

PS Ullman and Hobie Cat sails are the same and Ullman makes them at their Florida loft so shipping should be minimal. Check your local Hobie dealer and the Florida Ullman loft to see who has a better deal for you.
