I have a Revo, any thoughts on mounting a compass? The front hatch is angled, and the front section is obscured by the drive/feet. Thanks.

Hey DW,

Try this. You can mount it anywhere or not at all.

I have mounted a Plastimo Iris 100 hand compass in the footwell of our Tandem. It just clears the pedals and can be seen clearly.

The great thing about this is that it can be easily removed for transport or used for hand bearings.

DW, you could take Stringy's hand compass and mount it inside your cup holder.

I like that idea, I may do that with my Revo.

Thanks Stringy....

That is really a sharp looking compass and I like the position. Can you post a picture of the interior cut on the hull? I was wondering how you position the gasket to minimize water intake over the bow.

I have not installed on, I simply pulled this from page 11 of the Hobie Catalog . Maybe the factory has a picture of the inside. I will make a phone call and see what I can come up with.

Can you see the compass when the mast is in place?
I think I saw in one of his pics Gwiz had one mounted on the front of the footwell of his AI.
The Ritchie is a smaller compass than the Plastimo I have. I looked at it first but decided it was too difficult to mount on the Tandem. I don't think the Plastimo would fit in a drinkholder.

I glanced back and my post and realized I too was wondering the compass looked like, so I got hold of Vince at Hobie Cat and he sent the 2nd set of pictures.

I am not sure if a Mast can be installed with the compass there. I've not done a install like this, yet, so I can't confirm that the mast would have room to flex around w/o busting the glass on the compass. I do not think you would be able to see the reading with the mast installed anyways.

trying to use the mast is the problem with that spot, and the cup holder is a good idea but it does not give me a forward view of the compass, more like from the top. I rely on a compass during foggy conditions and like to keep a close eye on it as I try to get back to the launch spot. I appreciate all the ideas, if I come up with one that works for me I'll post pixs. Thanks.
