Waiting on my new rudder housing...thought I would go try my hand at this fishing malarky just on pedal/paddle power...BIG MISTAKE...this huge THING made off with my line...panic I thought I had hooked a truck...panic again, forgotten to pack my knife...what is it down there????....and whats it doing???...I hope it doesnt come up!!! then the line goes slack..thats bad must be heading my way!!! I reel in, then suddenly the rods almost pulled out of my hands..then the line goes right DOWN. friend of mine watching from the beach he thinks i am having an epileptic fit! Then this THING floats up by my stern. I remember someones advice regarding use of the gaff, show no mercy...throw it in there, thats what I do but its an extendable gaff and the collars not screwed down tight so I sort of cast it out accidentaly to its fullest length and miss..get it in there finally just before the fish launches itself into the stern well snapping with great vigour.

This fish is probably tiny by Hawaiin standards but plenty scary enough for a learner fisherman like me, its only the second fish I have caught. I had a 20Ib line and a penn 209 reel. Think i will give it a break for a couple of days its all a bit fraught and potentially dangerous. It was 5 minutes of my life that i wont forget in a hurry...so Thank you Hobie for providing me that opportunity. Doesnt look like my image will link thru, fishings not the only thing I need to learn more about!
