The AI steering handle is small and hours of controlling it can be tiring on your thumb and hand. My handiman friend, Dave Whitford, made a handle extender for his AI. He used parts he had around his shop. I decided to do the same, but went to West Marine for parts. I picked up 2 SS 1x4" Strap Tangs. For a knob at the end, I used a Bimini Top Hardware eye end (West #11707). The result is shown in the pictures.

The hinge at the steering handle allows it to lie flat against the hull.

Great idea Keith ! I like it. Using the standard rudder handle can be a bit kludgy at times. Thanks for posting the pictures.

I used your idea and materials to build the handle extension. Works great. Love it. Thanks!
