I have a 2009 Blue Adventure and I'm thinking of upgrading to A.I. by adding the amas. Has anyone done this? To install the cross brace assemblies, do you need access to the inside or you just screw the braces in from the outside? Is that strong enough? Thanks

The cross braces are screwed in from the outside.

The mast step and yoke use internal threaded bolts. Their installation will be he toughest part of the conversion.

Yep, I've done an upgrade on my own kayak, as well as two other upgrades for customers. The crossbars are probably the easiest part of the process. It's not a difficult job (nor terribly time consuming) but will probably cost you the better part of an afternoon the first time you do it. Installing the V-brace for the mast step is probably the trickiest part. It's not hard... just a little trial and error.

Roderick,
Short answer NO!
The Adventure was originally designed with the AI conversion in mind (or vice-versa, I don't know what came first!).
However, anything is possible if you are inventive.
I have an Oasis that I was thinking about converting to a double AI using the AI bits. Measuring it up it looks like the X-Bars would fit but the real problem is supporting the mast. There is no provision for fitting the all important V-Brace internally. It would have to be done externally like the Bravo. There would be other issues such as handling and lack of a daggerboard slot which could be overcome but as the genuine AI double is in development I have decided it is better to wait for that. 8)
