Kelly that owns P&P, and Kate that runs the store are great.
(and Kelly is crazier than I am! He and Aloha Dan sailed between The Big Island and Maui and back in AI's) 8)

Kayaking Bob,

Knowing that you have shared lots of neat ideas, what's with the yellow tape I've noticed in many of your posts that seem to be on the aka's and the mirage drive. Is it a radar deflector, trial paint scheme, a coverer of blemishes, an identity scheme?
You have me intrigued.....I can't picture you just walking around the A1 and plastering tape on it.

Your pictures are great as usual. Do you find attaching the furling line to the main helps? Like someone Pirate said, my furling line is not long enough to attach and I did replace it with a longer line which I then chewed through with the mirage drive so I'm back to the original.

Bob C.

They do not carry them any longer. Guess I'll continue looking for the type with the cozy elsewhere, it's not a feature I've seen offered.

Well that's not good! I'll need to give them a call.

And the answer is...

an identity scheme!

I have had two AI's originally Red and Yellow so everything was color coded to what went with which boat. I used the Yellow so everything Yellow was adjusted for me and my preferences.

Since then friends have bought AI's, some stored at my house, so now we have Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple and Black. If we travel together in my truck (I can carry up to 5 on the rack) all the parts are color coded so the right parts end up on the right boat, and back to their owners. My latest AI is the Purple boat.

Also we have added a three foot long 2" wide ribbon banner to ID the boats on the water (and makes a great apparent wind indicator!)

On my website http://www.kayakingbob.com/hobie-ai shows all the color coding I've done on my AI's.

Well good on you, that colour coding makes sense.....like I knew it would.

Seems like you have a right community with you which I'm sure adds to the fun of the A1.

Thanks for explaining.

Upyaboya, tieing the furling line to the mainsheet is highly recommended (by me at least). You always know where it is and you use the two lines together anyway.
