 Post subject: Mast step

The new mast steps apparenly have holes in them to keep the mast pivot bearing in place,can the old steps have holes drilled in them,how many and where?

Chip Keeper.

This is something that Dan Ketterman did to his boat years ago. He drilled 5 (I think) holes in a circle pattern about 1/4-1/2" out from the edge of the post. Inside the outer chip dimension. They were about 1/8" diameter holes. Drill them about 1/8 inch deep. Idea is the chip squishes into all if these holes at that virtually locks it in place. At the 16 Worlds last year... we never had to replace a chip. They even stay in place when trailering... but! betteer be sure they are in the right place to start with.
