year boat was made??

Hi im wondering what year my boat is... i know where the number is but there are so many that i dont know which 2 numbers the date is because there is 79, 98,87,75. and in the middle theres like a bunch letters so whitch 2 places is the manufacture date??

Generally, it's the last two digits in the number.

CCMA7987M75? (with the ? being another letter) is probably what your serial number looks like. That would make it a '75.

Mine is CCML 239 5M 79 BS.....what is that all about

CCM - Manufacturer Code - Coast Catamaran
L - model (Hobie 16)
2395 - serial number
M79B - manufacture date - second (B) month of 1979 model year - September 1978.
S - second (blemish)

In the late 70's / early 80's, Hobie Cat would sell "seconds" at a discount. These usually had some minor cosmetic defect in the gel coat. On all the ones I saw, it was tough to find the blemish.
