:?: HELP!! I need to find ANY information on the 12' Hobie Mono-Cat. I am looking for a partlist, and/or manual and where I can buy a sail for it. Does anyone out there have an original manual for this boat?

Thanks!

Hi,

Is this the same as the Hobie Holder? If so, let me know and I'll direct you to someone who can help you out...hopefully.

Good luck!

http://www.hobiecat.com/support/index.html at the bottom of this page is everything about the Holder 12. There is also a list of available parts/prices.

The hobie 12 monocat is totally different than the holder monohull dinghy. The new bravo is very similar in layout to the hobie 12 monocat. In fact, I've always wanted one of the old monocats as a nifty cartopper for the kids--anyone got one for sale?

I have a hobie monocat mainsail that is brand new. Literally!

$250

That "should" fit the hobie one 12.

Thanks for all of your great info!

Hobie Co was good enough to mail me a copy of the original manual.

It is a parts list of sorts too.

The Hobie12 Mono-Cat is NOT the Holder 12. Very different boats.

I now have to replace the gooseneck. This appears to be a really non-standard part. It is a sort of flat plate with 3 holes on a rod that slides into the mast track.

I have spoken with RaceLite co. who has made goosenecks for other Hobies over the years but they apparently did NOT make this one and do not have anything similar.

If anyone has any experience or ideas, that would be great.

I will try to get a photo of this part from the manual posted soon.

Also, I plan to make a PDF of the manual, if anyone wants a copy, email me at [email protected].

THANKS AGAIN!!!

The dealer here (Midwest Sailing) has a Hobie 12 MonoCat for sale that they got from an estate sale.

The thing is in mint condition. Orange deck (not faded at all).

I almost bought a Holder 20 last year. Pretty slick little boat.

Cool looking boats.

Looks like a boat from "Boogie Nights"

I'm the guy with the one on ebay. I have two available.

I have an original Hobie 12 Mono-Cat Set-up & Assembly Instruction Guide which came with my Hobie 12 back in the mid 70's. The boat is long gone, sold on E-Bay. I just found the file with old paperwork regarding the boat, and was going to throw it away. You are welcome to it.

Actually, we'd like to have that for the Hobie Class Association archives. We'll scan it and put it out on the Internet for everybody.

Hey, I've got a monocat in central NY (morrisville) that has been sitting in the garage taking up space for a few years. i'm trying to clean things out and I'll probably be putting it up on craigslist in a couple weeks, but if anyone on here is interested let me know.

The sail is in pretty good shape for its age (although definitely quite old). And there are some signs of metal fatigue around, and it could probably stand some new lines. But, overall its ready for sailing and could be splashed today.

We've had the boat for over 30 years, and it was actually a tough decision to let it go. Its definitely an interesting piece of hobie history.
