Hi everyone. I'm new to Hobie Forums. I bought my first kayak last summer and fished from it few times before winter set in. Here's a pic of my first fish in the yak. A 2.5 lb largemouth on a fly rod.

That's a nice fish, Dave. I hope to catch many like that this summer. How do you like the Revolution. I understand they fly through the water.

I just had my new Pro Angler out on the Occoquan River in VA last weekend. It was a great Sunday outing. Unfortunately, the fish were not biting what I was throwing, but my brother and I had a great time tooling around in our new rigs. We made a 2.25 mile dash against the outgoing tide to get to the take out. The PA is a beast, so we were worn out.

TDK,

The Revo is fast and comfortable. Two weekends ago I upgraded with the Turbo Speed Kit. I haven't had her on the water yet to get a feel for the increased speed. I have a video of my Revo with the standard fins on my blog at http://fairweatherfisher.blogspot.com/2009/07/theres-kayak-in-my-future-presence-part.html. I'll try to remember to post another video for comparison.

I love the Revo so much my wife thinks I'm cheating.

Dave
BTW: I think I'll make that last remark my signature. :D

Congratulations Dave and welcome to the forum.

I also have a Hobie ProAngler and appreciate everything Hobie has done to enhance the sport of kayak fishing. The creation of the Mirage Drive was brilliant and it sure is nice to have your hands free for fishing.

Dave I like your remark about cheating and agree that it would make a good tag line or quote under your user name or signature.

Best Regards

Maui Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the welcome.

I was comparison shopping Feb last year and was zeroing in on the Revo when I stumbled on a review of the PA over at Kayak Fish Nation and was blown away by the setup. Unfortunately it was too expensive for my budget. I like to Sail too so I think the Revo with its sleeker profile would have been my choice regardless.

You're right about the peddles. A nice trick I found was to drop them in backwards, then paddle up to the reeds and let the wind push me down the shoreline. If I get too close I peddle lightly 1 or 2 times with one foot and I'm back in position. This works great with a fly rod when my casting length is preset.

Aloha Dave,

My wife and I have done a little bit of fly fishing and enjoy the heck out of it. We are fishing this weekend so wish us luck and hope to post some fat fish pictures in the near future.
