I have just bought a red Revolution and I do love it...I have just noticed today whilst washing it that
inside on the bottom of the hull, there is a large bumpy patch that has alot of grinding marks on it. It
almost looks like a patch has been put ion the hull. this is a brand new Revolution, and I received it in its
original wrapping. The dealer is a reputable dealer also. There is no sign of any bumps or patch underneath
the hull. It is only on the inside on the bottom directly under the twist and turn hatch in front of the seat.
Would anyone have any idea what this is..It does seem strange as it is a brand new Revo?...Could it be something
to do with the mould or something?
Any info would be appreciated before I go back to my dealer..

I have one on all my Hobies. It's like a belly button -- almost all the boats have it to some degree. I think it has to do with where they add the material in the rotomolding process. Notice you see no trace of it on the hull outer surface. They do grind it down if it looks too unsightly when you open the hatch. 8)

Thanks for your reply Roadrunner...It was a shock seeing this as it has soft disc grinding marks in the patch..
I thought it may have something to do with it coming out of the mould...If Matt from Hobie could confirm this
would be most appreciated...Thankyou

Same here. Belly button is an apt description. :)

Yep. Normal part of the molding process. Plastic gathers on the vent (hatch area just above is a vent during molding) and creates a hump where it drips off on the inner surface. Varies in size and is sometmes ground off as done on your boat.
