Chinese Mirage drive and T.I 'clones'....

A patent is an agreement with society. Society gives the patent holder a certain period of monopolistic right to the invention. But after that, it is open season. That is why patents must be specific enough for someone schooled in the art to make the invention. And they are public record.

It is perfectly appropriate for other manufacturers to copy inventions with expired patents.

That is the deal.

I think it depends on the particular seller/manufacturer.

I've seen two different styles, the difference is the width/length of the center pin/rod that locks into the boat.
Some of them seem to have a narrower/shorter pin which isn't compatible with Hobie unless you replace it which isn't too hard if you can the appropriate stainless and cut it down.

That particular seller has rough measurements listed so you can measure your boat and compare.
