My friend has a used 2006 outback he may sell me. I was considering buying an 08 model though. Does anyone know what the differences are between the 06 vs. 08? Is it worth it to just buy a new 08 or is 06 just as good. Any help appreciated, just trying to make a good decision.

Thanks
rob.

Hey Rob,
Welcome to the Hobie Forum. Big difference between the '06 OB and the '08. The hull was completely re-designed in 2007 to increase its speed, but with no loss in stability. Here's an earlier post of mine in which I compare the differences been the 2006 and the 2007 model Outbacks.

Hey Fast,
Here was my early review of the Revo.

BTW, Pentax has since come out with upgrades to their Optio W10 waterproof cameras, known as the W20 and W30, each with some improved features.

Unfortunately, a hurricane or two kept me off the water, so I never had time to do a careful on-water review. However, Roadrunner has done just that, and here are some of his excellent posts.

Apalch,

Any idea where to find a cup holder rig like in the one picture with the two water bottles on either side of the back of the seat. I was thinking of trying a set up like that for a couple of drip proof coffee mugs.

Roger

Hey Roger,
Yea--that was the standard Hobie seat with the attached fanny pack up until 2007. Personally, I thought it was a great idea, but Hobie abandoned it in favor of a different seat design that eliminated the fanny pack (that was actually detachable and could be used for inland hikes after beaching your yak). However, various back country and hiking outfits (such as REI, Eastern Mountain Sports, L.L. Bean and others) have at various times offered such packs with contained water bottles. Some of these could conceivably be adapted to a Hobie seat-back future with a little ingenuity I would think. Good Luck.
Best,
Dick

Thanks! That was a great write up. I think I may go with a new one, not much and better features or a newer used one.

Thanks Again

Rob
