Hobie Hull Bulge

I have a 2006 Outback that has developed a bulge in the hull which affects the way it tracks in the water. I've been told to leave it in the sun to warm and push it in. What is the proper way to fix this?

Well, believe it or not, leave it in the sun to warm and push it in! At least that's the suggestion that has been posted in the past for similar problems. Good luck. Wish that worked with my abs!

I'll try that but I'll have to wait till the outside temp stay constantly warm. I've heard using a hair dryer works also.

Just curious if you were able to fix the bulge? I have the same problem with my 06 Outback. It seems to have grown larger in the sun.

I've tried leaving it in the sun and pushing it in then putting water on it to retain it's form. It has worked somewhat and it still has a bulge. I am going to try it again and I was told to supplement the heat using a hair dryer. I'll let you know if that works. How long did you have it before you noticed the bulge?

Can't remember if I read it on this forum or another one I'm a member on, but someone recently had success by covering the bulge with a towel and pouring boiling water onto the towel (the towel stops the water just running off). Leave the towel a minute or two until the plastic softens and then push the bulge back in. He then put the towel back on and poured cold water onto the towel to 'set' the plastic.

He seemed fairly happy with the results.
