I have both booted waders and stocking foot

If I wear the booted ones, I wear a wader belt and wader Suspenders, and a knife and a PFD AND here's a tip .... these are on Clearance Sale $12.00 They fit over wader boots to give more thrust for re-entry, so I toss them in the tankwell with a float on each .... just in case ($12.00 is cheap insurance when wind is blowing kayak across lake faster than you can swim or or your waders have extra water weight inside, when too tired to re-enter or in a kayak with lots of freeboard like an Outback ) http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... d=10899474

These fit OVER wader bootsImage
I also leash myself to the kayak, but that's a personal preference for my water conditions where I go ... with the knife I can cut the feet out of the waders while in the water, or cut the leash

It's all about fins, on feet/waders, on Fish, and on Mirage Drives
