Just joined and am trying to identify my new old kayak. Just bought a mirage tandem. It is our first kayak although we have had a canoe for a long time. The seller didn't know the age but it is well used. I cannot find a serial number where it is supposed to be. I was about to buy a cart that fits the scuppers when I realized this baby only had one scupper aft and one fwd under both seats. It has 2 hatches and monofiliment lines controling the rudder. I have searched this forum and the web trying to identfy the year but no luck except a post by "roadrunner" from a few years ago. It mentioned the monofiliment lines and seats rivited down and seemed to indicate it was one of the first built. I have been researching my new acquisiton and wondering if a sail kit could be in the future. I see there are adapters for sail kits for older mirage tandems but am afraid this one may be too old to be practical. It looks like the only place to stick a mast is in the fwd scupper after removing the seat. Just curious at this point. It seems to work good enough to have a lot of fun with. Just looking to gently cruise around with my wife for starters. We are retired and looking forward to the mirage.
