I have found that adding the extra stern hatch has proved so useful in allowing us to utilise the internal space that I added a few more smaller hatches. :)

Two 100mm (4") access ports in the footwell. These allow us to store a long object like our 1m folded beach shelter easily and permit access to the difficult centre of the kayak. These would have made through bolting the sidekick crossbar a lot easier!

Two 125mm (5") hatches on the bow deck. These greatly improve access to this large storage area, making it easy to fully utilise the space.

All closed and sealed. No leaks so far!

Stringy, when you get on a roll, there's just no stopping you -- 8 hatches in one boat? Great Scott! You ought to be able to really pack the hull for your expeditions now.

With the dual flip up rudder, twin sail capability, roller furling and all these hatches, this has to be the most innovative boat on the forum. You're starting to make the Hobie engineers look like amateurs! All that's missing is the kitchen sink, or is that in the works also?

Thanks for that Roadrunner! :)
You're right about me being on a roll!
I was going to add just one each of the 4" and 5" hatches but it ruined the symmetry of the Oasis. As they were cheap and easy to fit I thought why not two each?
I used to think of our tandem as looking like a banana but now I'd say it more resembles a slice of Swiss cheese!
Despite the abundance of holes we are still going to have to carry the larger gear above deck as an 8" hatch hole is not big enough. The Oasis could really do with a larger hatch as on the other models but I know there just isn't a place to fit one.
I'm hoping the need for a larger hatch is recognized by my wife as a legitimate excuse for upgrading to the Tandem AI if and when it becomes available!
PS: I have stopped now though, so no plans for a kitchen sink!
