I ended up going with an adventure after all was said and done. Regular fins for now while I get the hang of it. I've been out once so far as I'm still working out the kinks of being able to store and launch this thing solo.

So from my extensive experience of one 1 hr 'workout' trip, this thing is awesome. Lower back got numb towards the 40 minute mark, but I didn't attempt to adjust anything, I imagine I'll be able to work that out eventually.

At 140 bpm average across the hour, I managed 5 knots average but that sounds a little high so my Google Earth skills may be a little lacking. I gave a sprint at the end, 180 bpm for a minute. Hit ~7knots (also seems high).

I'll have to collect a lot more data before I'm ready to claim any accuracy.

So far though, this thing feels like it's going to be perfect for this use.

If you want to to track your performance the Garmin GPSmap CSX series is a super tool, My OutBack is a slower ride, but for short times I can almost make 7 in salt water
