a change to the trim was made some number of months ago, but unclear if this has come through to production.

I have now discovered that this change is more recent and not yet in production.

We aren't dodging the issue. We are making changes in production to solve it and looking for field fixes.

That's great to hear. So once the issue is solved, do you think Hobie will replace the seats with the issues (maybe returning the 'bad' seats to a dealer in exchange for an updated, fixed one) or would it be something that would have to be purchased at a discount?

No idea at this point... Maybe a neoprene cover... who knows.

Any updates on a seat fix yet? I'd really like to resolve this issue.

I have been pushing the issue with engineering and management. Nothing new yet. It's a process. In the meantime... towel? I'd be interested to hear any solutions you come up with as a temporary comfortable fix.

Ok Matt, just making sure I was heard - forgive me if I questioned that, and I will certainly give you the benefit of the doubt. Since I don't know you, I am relying on what you say that you/Hobie are taking this issue seriously and truly looking for a workable solution for this. Thanks, and please keep me posted! ~Anthony

Wow... that is a lot of writing to reiterate something I / we already know. I have attempted to convey that we are working on a solution. It is a workmanship issue as far as I can tell. This is not consistent with all seats.

Temporary solutions were only expected to be that... to help those with this issue get through this period until our engineers have a better solution.

OK, we have resolved the issue... and notified dealers today.

For consumers who report the issue via a warranty claim: We will replace the seat bottom mesh at no charge. We created instructions for seat bottom mesh replacement by dealers or consumers. The process is fairly simple and will take less than 10 minutes to complete a bottom mesh replacement. This video also covers seat back mesh replacement, a good resource for any possible CT seat mesh replacements.

CT Seat Mesh instructional video: https://youtu.be/gdN0RpwoHr4

For our stock on hand, we added a thicker webbing across the front to enclose the loose fiber ends that were causing the discomfort issues. For the future, we changed the way the 3D fabric is cut and moved the seam away from the edge to be the same as Vantage seats on Pro Anglers.

Excellent instructional video. Jacques noted the barrel screws on both sides of the seat back had Loctite Blue on them. It might be a good idea to re-apply fresh Loctite Blue when reassembling. (This only refers to the seat back mesh replacement, not the bottom). If you get a mid-back ache after tensioning these two screws, they can be loosened a few turns to suit, for more upper back comfort and support. 8)

All claims go through your dealer. Just call him and he will tell you how to proceed. This sounds like it may be about adjusting the lumbar support in which case he may be able to help you directly. 8)

Not likely the same issue. The material is a sometimes a bit rough (related to UV protectant treatments) and softens up with some use. May be the stiff fibers that create the breathable cushion of the mesh. Not an issue when wearing anything from thin Lycra (recommended for spf protection anyway) to anything thicker.

If you actually have prickles in the seam tape... contact your dealer to review.

This is great news. I'll have to get with my dealer about getting a replacement. I noticed the seat in the video has a buckle latch on the back instead of the plastic loop mine has. Is this something that goes under warranty issues as well, or is that a modification that we purchase? Either way, I'd like to have that buckle latch on mine as well
