I think this mod is fantastic and have it on both of my Adventure Islands. Same reasoning as the above= hard to justify spending that much more on the new models.

You have the cleanest solution yet!

I have a similar mounting platform, but was too scared to drill into the back so I simply used some black cutting board to attach the rear clips on and a thin layer of sealed foam on the bottom. Its all one peice and stays in place just fine. I added some bungie deck fittings (the little pop up ones) on the chair so that I can keep it secure with the tank well bungie.

Stability on the Adventure isnt as bad as I though it would be in the raised position. I use the dagger board to help and feel just fine. I havent flipped yet, but do need to be weary of awkward boat wakes. Been out in the ocean 3 times with just the raised seat and no dagger board. Felt a little tipsy in the chop, but didnt tip ;)

The steering does come into play. I added a ram ball on my knob and switched the handle to the upright position. Steering is now forward and back rather than to the side. Makes a huge difference on the AIs and works perfect with the seat positioning.

+++ Highly reccomend this mod +++

Nice, how did you get this over the aka brace? Have any photos? If so, I would think I could do this to both of my seats in a 2014 TI.
Thanks

x2 - Very interested to have a look at how you did it...

Mike.

$299 is steep, but the seat is a great mod for the Outback.

My Outback has had it for over a year now and i would not go back.

BTW if i remember right it was $169 when i got mine.

yeah $299 is a bit rich.
i have contacted Jackson and i can buy one from them for $110, getting a quote on shipping to Australia.
think it will be cheaper to do that.

great mod though, cant wait.

also your outbacks brand new are $2400? wow ours are $2900. that is a bare yak, no up grades.

I was the guy in the nested thread way up that tried Jacksons in a revo13 few years back, among others. I grew up in very tippy cajun pirogues so have very good water balance. Calm water comfort was great, but certainly would not use in heavy water. Pick your battles and use the right tool for the job. Usually carried the stock seat in the well for backup as needed.
Man I can't believe how cheap those Jackson seats are now, think I paid 179 !

Can anyone explain to me if the seats here: http://store.jacksonkayak.com/elite-seats/ particularly the 2.0 and 3.0 would be suitable for the mod in discussion.

If not, does anyone have any idea where I could specifically source one that would?

NB I am in Australia and would most likely have to pay for international shipping.

Neat installation, the new models have higher stock seats too without changes in hull etc so it works.

A tall heavy man like my friend Andy at 6'3" and 275Lbs in the old seat would affect the roll stability of the boat probably more than a regular person on the new Vantage seat.

Which is to say not much at all because the boat is designed to have adequate stability with odd-shaped humans as occupants, my new Revo16 feels no less stable than my 2008 model Adventure.

Also noticing comments that some people think the new 2015 models are just a new seat?
