Outfitter vs. Oasis

Hello All,

I will be placing an order next week for an Oasis or an Outfitter. I am buying it primarily for fishing but it will get its fair share of tandem paddling and peddling action. I am coming from a tandem fishing kayak already.

The only real "Advantage" I see with the Outfitter is it's having built in rod holders. However, I don't necessarily see that as an advantage. I don't see the differences in length to be a mind changer.

I would love to read the comparisons many of you may have.

The Oasis is quite a bit faster than the Outfitter in both the tandem and solo mode. It's also a little drier for the front passenger in chop.

The Outfitter, on the other hand, has a better initial stability (both are very stable) and more tray space that many fishermen find handy.

I think the Oasis is easier to paddle because it has some round-down at the gunwales and you don't have to worry about banging your hands.

I spoke to another person at the local dealer. He informed me the Outfitter gets purchased 10-1 to the Oasis. He also mentioned the hull from the Oasis is the old construction and or method. I can't remember exactly what he said on that.

Anyone else have any comments or experience with either one?

I know all the things people have said I've heard many but it will be a Oasis for me & my wife when I can square our finances for that purchase we are getting it more for cruising that for anything else but we will fish out of it just as we do out of our present kayaks.

the boats are made using the same process. Construction wise boats are basicly the same. Yes in our store as well the Outfitter sells 10/1 over the oasis but do not let anyone decide for you which boat to get. Use RR's review and make an educated decision

Thanks for the input! I am really trying to drill down and understand if there are any REAL differences other than length and molded rod holders. If not, it seems the Oasis is the overall better choice just for speed. It almost seems as if the Outfitter is being pushed to the retailers and creating the 10-1 stuff.

I've read several old threads on the two. I just don't see any REAL differences. I don't consider the length or width in that.

I suppose what I am looking for is some input confirming or denying that.

boats are not pushed on dealers we place our own orders. Outfitter sales in my market are driven by the basic fact it's shorter,easier to store and has rod holder. Most people around here fish and launch close to where they fish so speed is not a factor
