I Bought my 08Outback in Nov-Dec08, I have invested alot of money into my new found toy which I love to death....I wanted to speak here for anyone that has a Hobie Product or Looks at these forums and thinks or hesitates on a purchase from them. I had a small problem on an expensive item (Mirage Drive $470-$500) paint was chipping a little and I was not really mad just a little disappointed.

Matt Miller, not only got back to me on the situation but stood behind their product like no other..sent me out the replaceable parts(no charge) and backed their warranty and commitment towards the most important part of their business the CUSTOMER....As the years go by I see so many businesses that could not give a crap about you are what you are buying from them and most certainly would not replace anything and ship it out......I took the time to write this, as it was the least I could do to say THANK YOU MATT & THE HOBIE TEAM AS WELL AS EVERYONE AT HOBIE......

HOBIE PRODUCT BUYER FOR LIFE,

STEVE (TEXAS)

Thankx Again Matt I just installed them and is back to new again.............

Not the same situation (small cracks in the top of the hull) and Hobie sent me a new boat. No hassel, just backing there product. I believe with the way Hobie backs there products, the defect my boat had was rare. Same here we are Hobie customers for life! 09-Sport & 09 Revo. Thanks Rick Smith

I have an 07 Revolution that has a crack in the hull where the cam is for the drive unit.
The hull took on lots of water in 4 hours.
I sent the dealer an e-mail with pictures. I am waiting for a reply as to warranty of the hull.

By the time I found the crack the purchase date was 2 years & 13 days.
My feeling is Hobie will replace the hull as I found other pictures on this forum with a crack in the same place.
The support I get from this forum is priceless.

I have always had the mind set that any product can have problems. How the problem is handled is more important
than the problem itself.

I love my hobies

Bruce... 07 Sport, 07 Revolution

Yes I agree.
Hobie's warranty and "after the sale" support is phenominal.
My experiences have all been very positive, and I have 2 Sports, 1 Ouback & 2 Islands.
Matt, Brendan, Jaques and the whole Hobie team are always helpful and attentive.

I hope all potential Hobie customers realize that not only are you getting a great product for the price but also the fantastic support.

:D

Yes. Hobie has great customer service and backs their products. During these times, it maters and gives them a edge besides producing a great product. Competion is tough. When my hull cracked on my outback, I had a new replacment within a couple of weeks. These forums provide good input to them too. New ideas for new kayaks.

One time I called Hobie on a question I had about an anchor trolley. I ended up talking to Matt. Small world...

I wonder if the Hobie warranty will cover the hull damage to one of my Outbacks from being accidently drug down an asphalt road having not been tied down good enough... lols...

Probably not.

But a local dealer did cut off the tail end of an old Outback for me to try and fix it with.

This is the conclusion from my post on July 07, 2009 above.

I picked it up today, 08/04/09. The only surprise I had was the hull was complete with all the hardware, budgie cords and even a new shaft with the knurls for my existing drive! Only the paddle, mirage drive & seat are needed from the old one.

If you think the Hobie Mirage kayaks are pricey, stop to think what you are getting. A great kayak with great engineering & design, Mirage Drive unit, seat & paddle. AND customer service that is priceless!

I'm I excited? You bet. Was the crack a disappointment? Yes. Did it happen just before vacation? Yes.
But guess what? I have forgotten about that already.
I have said before, problems can happen but how the problem is handled is most important.

Thanks Hobie. I couldn't be a happier customer. I have bragged about Hobie before & now I really have bragging rights. I hope others will wise up take your lead on customer service.

And to the AI owners on this forum my next kayak will be an AI next year. You guys are having too much fun. Just waiting for the next version of the AI.

Sorry this was so long but I'm excited but you couldn't tell, right?

Bruce
