rudder line help

My stow and go rudder, new model with the pull t handles on an 09 Revo, failed and would not stow. No apparent reason. I took the drum apart and due to the process the lines fell out off the drum before I could note how it was placed on the drum. I searched for a schematic of the line placement but with no luck. After playing around I think I have it put togehter correctly and the stow works. I'd like some info to make sure I did it right so I don't have a failure on the water.

I tightened the side to side turning lines taking some slack out. The up and down lines have about 3" of slack, normal?

On the drum side with the rudder there is a pin on the inside, is this what Hobie has recommended to remove??? Its a plunger thing with a spring around it. Thanks. Love the yak! bob

I am replying to this because no one else has, I haven't actually dissasembled or strung one so I can't help you with advice.

There are, however, some documents and diagrams on the Hobie site that may be useful to you. I didn't see one that seemed to cover your need perfectly but there are several relevant documents here:

Perhaps some combination of these will give you the information you need.

Thanks for the reply, I think Hobie has dropped the ball on this simple issue. Just post a schematic of the rudder with the line around it. I can't be the only dolt with this request.

Your right... we have "dropped the ball" on this one. I don't have a drawing or video that shows this. I am trying to get to it though.

In the meantime... your dealer should be your first point of contact for any issues.

The item mentioned for removal is a plastic plunger that rides on a spring.

This Hobie upgrade instruction sheet seems to have the best diagram on the "strings" srtup inside the twist-n-stow rudders drum.

The only difference now is that we don't use the two screws in the rudder head where the two lines end. We tie the two lines together well and thats does it.
