I've been contemplating installing an aftermarket trolling motor on my 2010 Outback, but with the 45lb battery, my 90lb retriever, me and all my gear, that puts me real close to the 400lb rated limit. Just wondering is anyone has loaded down an Outback with close to 400lbs and felt safe.

We did last year. We went kayak camping over the entire Memorial Day weekend at Assateague National Seashore on the Eastern shore of Maryland. I don't remember the exact weight, but it was low enough in the water that the rudder line holes were almost awash. No problems with control or any other issues.
