Hey gang... I bought two Mirage Sport Kayaks a few weeks ago for my wife and myself. The rudder control has been a bit testy on BOTH of them. ON my boat the rudder control was so tight that when my mother in law, who is a very small lady, pulled the down line, which runs through the forward block, the block pulled right off of the hull. After inspecting the mounting setup of the block I can not believe there is only ONE screw to hold this block in place. I returned my boat to the dealer, five hours after I purchased it, and he made it right. Now my wife is having trouble with her rudder not wanting to raise up when the "UP" line is pulled. She is gun shy about pulling it too hard, for obvious reasons. Plenty of dry lube has been used every time the boat is rinsed off and put away for storage. I am assuming it must be a tension adjustment issue.
#1 Any thoughts on this?
My mother in law, the small woman, liked ours so much she went and bought a sport also. I noticed that her pulley system for the rudder control has a different block set up with TWO mounting screws. MUCH better mounting option.
#2 Is this an upgrade Hobie offers?
Thanks for the feedback guys....
