I'm the proud owner of 2 new 2010 Revolutions, and have a question about the attachment of the drive seal for the Mirage drive. The one supplied with the yaks comes with screws and washers, while the listing in the accessory catalog mentions attaching with zip ties. Is there a preferred method?

Looking forward to learning a bunch in this forum.

-Kevin

I suppose the screws would be prefered, but the drive is not tapped for screws if older, so zip ties are the go.

I have both types and they both work just fine. If done well, you won't notice them.

I recently ordered a new Mirage drive and it did not come with a drive seal. I thought these were now standard on drives. My '09 AI drive came with the seal but the new drive did not. It did come with the new padded pedals and bungee.

Is the drive seal no longer standard or did mine just happen to be missing?

My drive seals came included in a bag with the scupper plugs, which was in a bag with the manual/brochures/etc.

When included with newer boats... they should then have the screws and washers included in the packet.

So, Matt, are you saying the drive seal is standard on the drive that comes with new boats but NOT standard when purchasing a new Mirage drive separately?

I just want to find out if I should follow up with my dealer on the missing seal or not.

I use the zip ties to attach the seal on my mirage drive without problems..just make sure it's on tight otherwise it will rub and make noise

Since we get all replacement drives from the assembly line... same as production versions... the seal is likely no longer included. A little hazy on that right now as to how they are being delivered to Parts. I'm not currently in my office. We made a decision, this model year, to leave the seals off of new boats and add them as an included option (you can install). This is due to the seal causing friction in the well while installing the drive which can cause the drive to tip and install crooked. We wanted new users to have as few problems as possible. As they get famliar with the boat, they can add the seal if they desire.

Matt, could you verify if the drives that come with the TI include the drive seal or not, so we know if we need to order them or not?

Thanks

All Mirage models have them in the accessory packet with the manual etc.
