My wife and I rented a Oasis yesterday 8) out of Newport CA. was only semi happy with the outting I really like being out on the same yak as my wife but the Oasis felt tippy at times and this is a fairly large yak our next time out will be in a Outfitter we are at present leaning toward the Outfitter because of overall length and the bias towards fishing as thats our primary reason for being out on the water and I feel it will be a little closer to my Outback in feel over the course of a day, she being a owner of a Revo liked the Oasis but has no opinion as yet on the Outfitter til she can spend a day in one we'll get this sorted out and have a tandem in our fleet soon.

I have an Outfitter and think it is really stable. We have been out in some hefty winds with sail and it is very stable. The folks at our kayak store (ACK) persuaded us to go with the Outfitter over the Oasis. I think it was the right choice as far as stability goes.

where did you rent your Oasis at Newport, CA? At this rental place, are you able to rent the mirage drive and a sail if you wanted?

Thanks,

We rented ours with no seats or mirage drive as we wanted our own stuff so the feel was more right for us to get the best possible feel for what we were doing on the subject of sails I have no idea what the story with that would be heres a couple links to help ya along.

I'm amazed you found the Oasis unstable!
Compared to the Outback it may have less primary stability but its secondary stability is amazing.
We have never felt as if we were close to capsizing even in the worst of conditions.
The Outfitter is essentially a tandem Outback.

Never said anything about capsizing or even coming close just did'nt have that feel I've become accustom to while out on the water it may have only been that my wife was a little to animated that day having alittle too much fun while we were out but she only weighs maybe 112 soaking wet so I discounted that factor but she was moving around quite a bit.
