I am considering starting a MeetUp group for local Hobie kayakers for kayak fishing, touring, sailing, etc. I am a member of a few kayak groups in my area but they cater mainly to long sleek fast kayaks and not so much into the fishing or sailing venues. The nearest local kayak fishing group is hours away and plans trips even furthur from my area.
My question is using the Hobie name in my group since I want to attract mainly local Hobie Mirage Kayak owners for group get togethers. Can I use the Hobie name without infringing on any copyrights or trademarks. I want to make the MeetUp group available to my local Hobie dealership as well so that newbie owners can find a group with common interests. There are so many avenues for kayaking in the tri-county area around me from the Keys to the Palm Beaches and even the west coast of Florida. I am hoping to maybe even find a local company to provide rentals for some of the outings. I know of one but they do not have Hobie kayaks.
How can I specialize my kayaking group to primarily Hobie Mirage and Paddle Kayaks? Of course other kayakers will be welcomed too.
