I hope I'm not telling old news here, but I was surprised to see a brand new Oasis in the new kayak collection, only the length and width are the same! Look at: http://www.hobiecat.com/media/pdf/2011_ ... ection.pdf, page 16

I would call it a revolution style tandem, and it looks great! Big revolution-style front hatch, dual steering controls, two stowage pockets per seat. They speak of a roomy cockpit, hopefully, the front cockpit is now roomy enough for a longer adult as well. I really like the way it looks! (Funny the also used pics of old oasis kayaks. As if people won't notice that those are different)

I hope Hobie don't mind if I post the page here for convenience:

Roadrunner, have you already tried it out? I look forward to your review!

I forgot to mention the flat cockpit floor, the third 8 inch hatch and 2 cup holders per cockpit. It's like an intermediate between the TI and the revo. I don't think it will be that much lighter than the current Oasis, but otherwise, they fixed almost everything.

Hmmm...looks like the Outfitter is now completely obsolete.

Skua, great find! This definitely looks like a totally new boat. In addition to resembling a Revo, it also appears to have inherited a bunch of features from the Tandem Island. I'll be anxious to check it out! 8)

I like it, I like it. So I am trying to gauge my envy as a very happy 2010 Oasis owner ...
Questions:
1) is the new aft 8" twist and stow a problem if there is spray water or rain collecting in that well? I was thinking of adding a rear hatch cover to my 2010 and thought that this might be problematic - does it drain in the 2011?
2) Is the bow shape, without what seems like the flare in the 2010, more likely to cause spray to come up to the front cockpit area?
3) What does the bottom of the hull look like - large sponsons like the 09/10? and finally ....
4) Why would I want to start a spousal battle ( ) with providing my wife with her own rudder control?? (She actually mentioned this as a potential 'couple problem') - Can you have one override the other :D  :?:

Happy kayaking
Ron

As a very happy owner of a 2010 Oasis you should cover your eyes and not ask any questions.

The new cargo well now has scupper holes.

The narrower, deeper bow causes less spray and is drier.

It is in the same style as the '09/'10 Oasis, but with considerably less rocker

They are both engaged full time and both have the same leverage so may the better spouse win!

Wow! Look how deep those drivewells are!! The boat must have some displacement!

Roadrunner:

Thanks for the answers to my varied questions. I still love my 2010 Oasis (and will guard my envy when I encounter the 2011 version !!)

Here's to single steering on a tandem
