My wife and I went for our second Outfitter tandem trip today; the Mirage drive worked much better than I had anticipated! We had such a great time in our second 3 hour trip. We are very impressed with the drive system. After researching kayaks, I discovered that the Mirage drive would enable me to go longer distances which will help me in the no-motor zone in the Banana River, Florida. Also the hands free will enable me to fly fish or cast light tackle while moving around quietly through the water. We are also glad we didn’t upgrade our drive system to the turbo system do to the skinny water. We live with areas of shallow water, and a longer fin system might be too deep for our area in Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River in Florida.
When we were looking at kayaks, I first wanted two single ones, but my wife really wanted to get a tandem. I really had no choice if she would be joining me. Well, I am glad I listened to her! I must admit I enjoy the smooth ride and the extra fins for speed and ease. I have seen in the forum the great ways it can be rigged for solo fishing.
I was a Hobie Cat sailor in the old days, then a Wind Surfer and now a Kite Boarder. I have owned boats up to 48’ down to 17’ also kayaks and canoes. I really think that this is going to be used more than anything I have owned with the exception of Kite Boarding. Hobie has really been a leader of fun in the water during my life time and I think Hobie is going to give me and my wife a longer life with this Mirage System. No gas, no noise, no dock fees, low maintenance, gets to where the boats can’t go, good exercise and easy transport. IT ROCKS!!!!

Hey Mcgee!
Welcome to the Hobie forums. If you want to know anything about your boat this is the place to go. The people here are friendly and the information is invaluable.
Like you I started with the standard fins on my tandum Oasis because I was worried about the shallow water in the Corpus Christi area. For a period of time I fretted about going with different fins. Finally I went back to my dealer thinking I was going to get the longer Turbo Fins. As luck would have it he was in the middle of sending all his older fins back and getting in the new fins for the V2 Mirage units. So he didn't have any turbos that would fit my 2010 model. What he did have was the shorter ST fins that fit right on the standard fin masts. So I bought 4 fins for the two drive units. Wow!! What a difference a different fin shape and a few extra sq. inches can do for your speed and performance. And all of this comes with a fin that is no longer than the standard. If you ever do decide to change out from the original standards, don't overlook the ST's. You'll get greater performance and still have the shallow water capacity of the standards. Here's wishing the best of adventures in your new boat. I hope you have as much fun in your's as I've had in mine. We'll all look forward to hearing from you in the future. - Roger :)

Welcome to what I consider the best purchase I've ever made. My wife and me got our boats three years ago. I love our boats. A Revolution and an Adventure. I'd love to try out one of the tandem models. I think that would be alot of fun. There is nothing I like more than to go out explore, fish, watch wildlife. Enjoy the best man powered boat out there. I know we will.
