Florida Keys thin (shallow) water peddling experience?

Hi all,
I'm thinking of a Florida Keys vacation with my Outback. Does anybody have any experience kayaking the very thin (shallow) water? Is it too shallow for peddling?

pedaling question, i'm not selling anything.

Take your Hobie...use the half step shuffle over the skinny water. The paddle works too.....

also wondering about the grass i see on an atlas is everywhere.
we have had difficulty before with some grasses and kelp with pedaling through,

Where exactly are you going in the Keys? Marathon? Key west?

We were down in Key Largo, Marathon and Bahia Honda the week before July 4th and didn't have any problems at all. The grass we saw from satellite photos was many feet below the kayaks and didn't interfere with the Mirage Drives a single time.

Usually eel grass. You can got through it without a problem if it's live on the bottom. If it's dead and floating you will have to pull the drive and rudder whenever you get a drag. Not a problem. If it's real shallow try to travel in the boat scars until you get in a little deeper water.
