Congrats on two revo's. Your two Hobie's already have a serial number engraved in the hull on the back on the right hand side. If it's for a security/tracking, I would think the number would be sufficient for police. If you engrave a name, it can easily be melted back out with a hot knife or solder iron and said to be a repair which is a bit less obvious as being stolen if it is the serial number that has been changed.
As for safety, and if you and your kayak became separated for some reason, wind and capsize for example. It would be a good idea to put your name and contact details attached to the hull but inside away from prying eyes, also possibly a trip note so they have an idea of where to search for you if the kayak is found on its own. Would be a great idea and one we have discussed on another forum.
Mostly I sailed and dived solo, so I think it was a good thing to carry inside the hull, though it was never really needed apart from fish ID. If you yravel together s a group all the time, them maybe not necessary, but still handy if you become separated.
I use a scuba dive slate, basically add my name and contact details + an emergency contact, planned trip, if I radio the lighthouse before departing. As I make destinations or if I plan to dive, I tick them off as I do or or go there and add time, also note radio checks so emergency services have an idea of time etc. Also if you suffer from any illness etc, good idea to make a note in case you may need meds etc and they then have an idea of a possible course and be ready. It also has a fish & plant species guide attached and I got it through our local scuba Reef Watch group.
