Hello everyone!
I'm Ricky, from Central Florida & proud owner of a Hobie Oasis. I've been visiting this forum on a weekly basis for about a month or so (since I learned about Hobie kayaks), but never felt the need to register since I could pretty much find all the info I needed just by reading through the many posts.

This time I came to the forum and registered so I could thank Hobie for making such a great product, thank all the people that are helping others and keeping this forum active with lots of valuable info, and also to let everyone know that I just got back from a short camping trip last weekend where I finally had the chance to go fishing with my Oasis for the first time & had a blast! Can't wait to get back in the water for more! I'm hooked!

Ricky ,

Welcome to the forum and the the proud family of Hobie kayak owners.
Everyone here is always happy to assist in any way we can.

Enjoy the new Oasis

A Thrill Ride is being dragged around in your kayak for 40 minutes by an extremely large fish.

Ricky

Where abouts are you in Central Florida? My wife and I recently bought a tandem Oasis and finally got it in the water last weekend. What a blast! We are in Maitland and have ventured into the Winter Park chain of lakes.

Congrats on the purchase & maiden trip! I'm in Apopka, close to Altamonte and not far from you. I've been to the Winter Park chain of lakes twice since I got my Oasis. I went on a full moon paddle last month with a group of 24 people. We stopped at Dog Island for a while on the way back and spent a couple of hours there. I went back last week for a little bit of scouting/fishing.

Tomorrow I'm taking the kayak to Merritt Island to see the last shuttle launch from the water with a group of over 30 kayakers! It's going to be a blast!
Literally! I can pm you the info if you'd like to go. ;-)

Hi Ricky,

Just got your reply, and unfortunatley work is calling today!

We live in Dommerich Estates and put in at Lake Minnihaha which connects to Lake Maitland via canal under Horatio to Lake Nina, then into Lake Maitland. Dog Island was our destination on our first trip. 2nd journey into Lake Maitland involved investigating some of the smaller canels on the north shore that lead back into a few of the neighborhoods that we occasionally bike through.

I am really impressed with the way the Oasis handles. This is my first attempt at kayaking and now wish I had started sooner. Perhaps we will meet up on the water one day.
