1) I'm 6' and had my mirage drive set to 7 (my leg is slightly bent when fully pushing the pedal) when pedaling it seemed that the fins were hitting the bottom. Is there a setting/adjustment I need to make or do I just need to not peddle as far with my legs?
3) On the 2011 models the seats have 2 pegs in the bottom that fit into holes in the kayak. I couldn't seem to get them into the pegs while on the water. anyone have any tricks to keep them seated properly?
Make sure your pegs are in the back peg holes for more leg room. if you lift up the Velcro from above the pegs on the seat, you'll see a ring on each that lets you loosen the split pegs to insert into the holes, then tighten. If the seat's all the way back and the drive adjusted all the way forward, you might need to learn to adjust your pedal stroke just a little to not hit the bottom.

2) We live approx 5 miles from the lakes we will frequent. I have a trailer with kayak holders that hold the kayaks up right. Should I take the mirage drives out during transport or is it ok to keep them locked in during transit?
4) With fresh water use what kind of cleanup/lubrication do I need to do with the mirage drives after each use?
I think it's safer for the drive to be removed for transport. I carefully put my drive in, leash and bungee it as I remove the boat from the trailer or truck while also putting it on the scupper cart. I prefer wheeling down the ramp on the cart, but do float the boat back on the trailer on return.
My drives, I rinse well with fresh water because I sail in the ocean. After dry, If I'm not going to use again soon, I spray all the joints and medal parts with WD40 or something similar.
