1) I have a 2011 Hobie outback that I use an older set of hobie wheels to haul. We at times have to pull our kayaks through sugar sand which takes much more effort. I have damage to one of the scutter holes and the picture is being sent off to hobie. This damage was done with a Hobie cart. I was told that the older set of wheels can cause this problem even though they are Hobie wheels. I bought my Hobie on the good reputation of the Hobie Kayaks. I am being told by the dealer that I may be charged a fee to get a new Haul sent down to me. Is this the normal thing that Hobie does? I think that being all Hobie products it should be covered. I had no one telling me anything about the Hobie cart wheels being a problem. By the way my kayak is 2 months old and does not even hardly have any scratches on it. Please Advise!!!!

2) Also is there some kind of refund or credit on the defective old wheels to purchase a set of new wheels? the new wheels have locks and longer shafts.

Thank you for your time

Kayak Doug

The cart itself does not cause damage. It has to do with incomplete insertion. We did add a feature to keep the cart fully inserted if you try to lift the kayak off the cart for some reason. We also extended the posts some time ago to match with newer versions of the hulls. This has been described to dealers in detail... as well as in these forums.

Wheels are not defective. There are several different styles for use in differing conditions such as hard surfaces or soft sand.

Cart damage is not covered by warranty, but we have been known to review issues such as this as a good faith measure.
