The easier question to answer is, what hasn't changed? The overall design, cockpit layout and dimensions -- same hull, same performance.

Most systems have been improved though. The newer Mirage Drive has some key changes that make it more durable and reliable. The Drive lock system ("Click N Go") is much easier and faster to use, and more rugged. The rudder up/down system is changed to make it easier (for most people) to use. Rudder tubes are more leak-proof. The newer seat has better back support. More durable bungees, better hand grips. There are some other minor changes as well (improved paddle for example). Other than that, not much. One thing about Hobie -- they don't stand on their laurels!

Oh yes, the '11 is still under a two year transferable factory warranty; the 07 would only be if somehow you were buying it new (although the '07 Drive only had a one year warranty).

If you can get a good price difference and are a pretty basic or occasional user, the '07 (if in good shape) can be a bargain. If you are performance oriented, heavy user, are going out long distances, the '11 will suit your needs best. It will hold up better against the added stresses of Turbofins. 8)

Thank you! I found a 2007 for $1200. Should I hop on that?

We have an 08 Revo, if I were to sell it I would probably ask $1500 for it. One nice thing about Hobies is they really hold their value very well and it's very difficult to find used ones.
There are several very expensive accessories that often come with the used boats.
Sail kit $350 new price
Large sailing rudder $40 new price
Scupper cart $100-$190 new price
Anchor $25-$50 new price
Turbo fins option ($60-$150 new price depending on type (there are two types)
Safety beacon light ~$30
PFD $75 (if they are selling everything)
So an 08 Revo that cost $1800 new really cost the owner $2500
The new owner ends up getting all that extra stuff when the user is selling especially if the previous owners are getting out of the sport (what else are they going to do with all that stuff)
I for one always go out with the sail bungied to the side of the boat, you never know when the wind will be in your favor and it only takes a couple seconds to throw it up or down (especially with a furler). All of our Hobies have the sail option.
These boats are extremely durable and anything that is likely to break (like the mirage drives) are easily repaired. I highly recommend if you are looking at a used boat inspect the hull very carefully for cracks or damage and physically put in the water before buying (small scratches on the bottom don't count unless excessive). Also look for excessive sun damage (you don't want a boat thats been sitting outside in the sun for 4 years). I believe the rudder up/down lever is upgradable to the newer style (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Bottom line, $1200 is a very good deal (especially if some extras are included).
Have fun
Bob
