More wake riding

Got my new waterproof camera this week as per Apalach's recommendation. I was afraid to use my regular camera on some of the "wetter" activities. So this is what wake riding looks like from the kayak's view:

Here's how it sometimes starts...


As you can see, there's plenty of water everywhere!


This is a good position, with the bow not quite in the next swell. This is much easier to achieve in the Revolution than the Adventure because of the length. There's not much maneuvering room here.


Here the swells are a little too close together; the bow is seriously flirting with the next swell.


Whoops. This is what Matt might describe as "blue water over the bow". The bow is firmly planted in the next swell and the entire foredeck is awash right into the cockpit. In this situation, the daggerboard really helps to control things! BTW, it's better not to do this while you're sailing.


As you can see, the little Pentax Optio W-10 did a pretty nice job. Pedaling, paddling, sailing and wake riding...at last, we come to the end of another great day on the water! Thanks, Hobie

Wish I could have seen that in person but I tried the ocean for the first time at La Jolla Shores on Sunday. Funny how the bigger sets come in just as I'm launching. Got my bow underwater too !
