I was prepping for an upcoming 5-day camping trip and I wanted to make sure that my Mirage Drive is ready for the entire trip. I really wanted to make sure that the square shafts were in good, working order since I have heard of some failures. So, I began to remove one of the top plastic caps from the square shaft and the little allen-head screw broke off midway through the pedal shaft. I tried using an easy-out to remove most of the broken screw but some of it is basically welded to the inside of the pedal shaft. I spent an hour or so trying to re-tap the thread but it just won't go and I am likely to break the tap off.

So, I figured that I'd chalk it up to a lost cause and order a new pedal shaft and screw to install into my square shaft. However, when I looked up the parts diagram, it looks like only an entire pedal/crank assembly is available. Is there any way that I can just order the round pedal shaft separately so save some money?

The pedal and crank shaft are one piece due to the pedal being a press fit to the crank.
