I have an older odyssey and was wondering if anyone has had any luck using the gear buckets and hatch bag on the older non-twist and seal hatches. I'm not interested in the expense involved with retrofitting the hatches.

You can easily update to the bag... there is a kit #5421 which adds a lip to hang the bag on. You can not fit a gear bucket in there though.

As always, thanks for the quick and accurate input! I got lucky and the a hobie dealer happened to have a bag kit in stock yesterday, so I dropped it in the 6" hatch last night and that will work out well for holding keys/wallets/phones in a small dry box that I have.

We've done the 10 mile trip from the local canoe livery a couple times, and are looking at doing the 20 mile run in the near future, but always have issues with dry bags sliding around in the hull and becoming a pain to retrieve when needed. Since the buckets won't work out on the older 8" hatch, does anyone have suggestions for solving that issues at the other end?

My hatch has a hole in the lip which I tie a lanyard to retain the drybag.
