Selling Hobies question.. value?

I have a 2010 13' Revo and an older Outback (doesn't have the large storage in the bow like the newer ones), now that I have the PA I seldom use the Revo... thinking about selling the Revo and the Outback and using the $'s to buy a new (or newer) Outback... any idea what the value of the two would be... Paid around $1800 for the Revo (new), mirage drives on both are fine, one has turbo fins... both are in great shape ... the Outback is an older boat... just wondering... kind of hard to find any of these things used to get an idea of their value..

Check out you local craigslist for Hobie boats to get an idea of what they are selling for in your area. That's how I sold my last boat.

I did... sure ain't many out there.... mine listed for $1800 new... I see Revo's OLDER than mine selling for that...

Agreed, they are few and far in between. I just put my as-new condition 2009 Outfitter up for sale. I found a 2006 Outfitter for sale 150 miles away from me for $1,500, but mine has all the newer features that the older boat doesn't...V2 drives, seats with inflatable lumber seats, drive well cam locks, and a cart...so I listed it for $1,800 which is still about $1k less than a new boat retail. We'll see.

I am unable to put a value on your Revo, but my experience may assist lessening some surprises that will arise. The regional nature of Craigslist makes it a better marketing tool than E-bay for kayaks (and local hard-print ads seldom work). I suggest that you just do one listing in your area. People truly in the market for a Hobie will find your listing, which makes multiple listings in other areas unnecessary. A seller typically believes a Hobie is worth close to what was paid new. A buyer typically believes a Hobie is worth about half of what was paid new. The sell price will probably be somewhere between these two extremes. Potential buyers will probably contact you and attempt to negotiate the listed price downward without ever seeing your Revo. You may also be contacted with offers to buy (sight unseen), if you agree to hold the kayak for a week or two. Never agree to hold (the exception would be a potential buyer agreeing to overnight a non-refundable deposit). Lastly, buyers willing to come look before negotiating are likely the most serious.

On another note, if the Revo is not sun-bleached and the hull not damaged (other than the usual use blemishes) you will likely get a fair price. Prior to 2007, Hobie seemed to have an issue with cracking drive-wells. More recently, there appears to be an issue with breaking petal posts (due to defective metal). Your Revo falls into a year with few, if any, issues. Good luck. I wish you well in this quest.

There is a sale area in this website below.. List it there and give your location. the best place to post is on this site. Nation Wide and World wide too. But if someone is looking in your area they will see it here. I bought my first Hobie 7 hours drive away from me. The second purchase was 16 hours drive from me. If you have a good deal people will work with you to get the deal closed. Most of the time pictures will tell the buyer what they want to know about your yak. Give the vin number on the hull and that says a lot to the buyer too. Good luck

Check Craigslist for sure, but also note how long a given post is up( item still for sale). I have been looking for a used Outback and have found that ones around 09 model were being listed for around 1200, but when I would call , it would be sold already. Soo if they are going quickly at a given price, ask more.
